After Show Thoughts: This podcast is my passion project. I’ve been working on this for the last three months and when I woke up on Saturday morning, I was excited that something I have been working on would be out in the world, ready for anyone and everyone to listen. I recorded this episode twice and when I listened back to it, I heard the excitement in my voice. Sharing my experience is something I have always wanted to do because every time I mention to someone where I am from, the same question is asked, “Wait – there are Black people in Iowa?”
Obviously – the answer is yes. This podcast gives me an opportunity to create a safe space for other Black people to share their stories, experiences, and connections in this state. Black people have a long history in Iowa, and this podcast will showcase that in addition to the amazing things people are doing in the state now. Now that my first episode has aired, I am so excited to release the next episode and continue to work on this project.
